Dementia Services: Dementia Advisory Service

If you are unsure about what your options are or who to go to locally, the Dementia Advisory Service is the ideal starting point for information, advice and support.

Dementia Advisors
The staff have a wealth of experience and facilitate easy access to appropriate care, provide good quality information, skilled advice and ongoing support to people with a diagnosis of dementia, including their family and carers during the course of the illness. The Dementia Advisors are available to visit you either at home or at the Dementia Advisory Centre at Regarth Avenue, Romford.

Assistant Dementia Advisors
Assistant Dementia Advisors continue to be a listening ear by providing regular support calls. They will signpost you to additional help and support when your needs change. Remember, we are just one phone call away.

'Me Time' and 'Guide Me' Sessions:
'Me Time' sessions are for carers to share their experiences with their peers over a light lunch and refreshments.
'Guide Me' sessions provide training and information on dementia and related issues to empower carers and families in their caring role. Topics include: 'What's out there for me?' or 'Ways to cope' as well as guest speakers, such as a local solicitor attending to discuss legal dementia issues that can arise. Lunch and refreshments are provided. If you do not have someone to look after the person you are caring for, no problem - just bring them along and experienced staff will care for them.

Carer's Events
The Service provides carer's events throughout the year enabling families/carers and the person with dementia to relax and enjoy social interaction.

Regarth Drop In Centre:
Carers can drop in to the Centre at any time if they have concerns they wish to discuss in person.

Regarth Resource Centre:
Carers have access to books and activities which can be borrowed. A computer is available to seek further information on the internet. The service also provides regular newsletters.
