Day Centre Services: HOPWA House Day Centre

HOPWA House is a bright, optimistic and stimulating centre for day opportunities which buzzes with energy and encourages people to develop existing and new skills and interests. We offer a friendly and comfortable environment which enables people to create their own day as they wish. Some like to sit and chat, others read the daily papers or choose a book from the library, other play games or join in activities from the wide range available.

When are we open?
The centre is open weekdays from 9am-5pm

Who will you meet at HOPWA House?
As well as other friendly clients, you will meet our team of professional staff including the Manager, Senior Support Workers, Support Workers and Volunteers who are all crucial to the daily life of the centre. All Support Workers are trained to NVQ Level 2 and their role is to ensure service users are treated with respect and dignity whilst making their day comfortable and enjoyable.

Activities
With input and ideas from service users, activities are wide ranging and include for example board games, art and craft, keep fit, puzzles, quizzes and Wii games. We also offer talks, bingo, quizzes, computers with access to the internet, short mat bowls, dancing, Keep Fit, films shown on a large screen tv, entertainment, whist, scrabble and many more.

Alternatively you can spend your time socialising with others in a stimulating environment. We have regular entertainment, films and sing-a-longs. During the warmer months you can enjoy refreshments in the garden next to the pond. We like service users to maintain their independence and stay as active as possible, with the ability to choose and plan their day the way they want to.
Clients can also make use of a mobile hairdressing and beautician service, as well as advice on and supply of hearing aid batteries.

Food
As well as breakfast for those who would like it, we also offer a freshly cooked lunch daily at a reasonable price with vegetarian, diabetic and other dietary choices. All meat, vegetables and groceries are bought locally. You can choose from a main meal, light bite, desserts or sandwiches to take home. There are home made cakes and biscuits too.
