Active Living Our new Active Living project aims to identify and to expand upon opportunities for clubs and activities borough-wide.
Advocacy Our trained staff and volunteers support older people who need help to represent themselves and their point of view.
Befriending Befriending of lonely, vulnerable older people by vetted, trained and matched volunteers.
Day Centres Companionship, meals and a range of stimulating and enjoyable activities and entertainment for frail and active older people at HOPWA House in Hornchurch and for frail older people at Paines Brook Court in Harold Hill.
Dementia Services Our Early Intervention Service provides information, advice and ongoing support to family carers and people with memory impairment. We also liaise with Health, Social Services and other agencies. Dementia Services also incorporate:
- Lunch Clubs for people with dementia over the age of 65 which take place on three days each week. These provide an opportunity to socialise and participate in various activities as well as offering valuable days of respite for family carers
Our Younger Persons' Group for people with dementia aged under 65, meets once a week, providing days out, fun, stimulating activities and a break for family carers
Our Outreach Co-ordinator provides talks and training on dementia and related issues.
Home support Practical support for older people living at home through a tradelist and fire assessment/smoke alarm fitting.
Information A comprehensive "One-Stop Shop" for older people, their carers and professionals, providing information on services or any aspect of ageing.
Insurance Services We offer a range of competitively priced, general insurance and other products tailored for those aged over 50, including home and contents, motor insurance and breakdown, travel, energy and funeral plans.
Perky Pensioners Social support and companionship 10-3pm for lonely, isolated older people in their local area one day per week at venues across the borough - currently Collier Row, Harold Hill, Romford, South Hornchurch and Upminster.
Stroke Support Arranged visits to the stroke sufferer and their carers to give them information on what's available to them in the Borough.
Toenail Cutting Service Total footcare including toenail cutting, basic corn and callus reduction and chiropody. Fingernail cutting is also available at various locations across Havering or home visits.
Volunteering We would only achieve a small proportion of the work we do were it not for the support of our volunteers.
